CRC Walks, Jogs, Or Runs The Bridge
We are excited to announce that we will begin our first of two new weekly runs starting the first week of March. Our Tuesday Walk, Jog, or Run the Bridge will start at 6:30PM every week Downtown at Bar Mash Charleston at 701 E Bay St, Charleston, SC. We will walk, jog, or run for 30-45 minutes up the Ravenel Bridge and back to Bar Mash Charleston. Afterwards we will socialize at Bar Mash Charleston where you can enjoy Taco Tuesdays. For $10, you can get 2 tacos, fries, and Miller High Life!
We hope to do this social event every Tuesday with the possible exception of the Tuesday Night Travel’n Group Run we host once a month. The event could still happen on the night if there is still interest! Our goal with this new weekly run is to encourage people to get out and exercise and be social! We hope to have three groups led by various individuals every week to cater to all levels of health and physical conditions. These groups would consist of walkers, joggers, and runners.
Our walker group is catered towards those who are just starting out, coping with an injury, or just want to get out and be social with a walking group. It would be possible for this group to cover approximately 1.5 miles in 30 minutes which would get them about half way between Downtown Charleston and Drum Island. Nothing is set in stone, so if the group would like to walk further and take more time, then that would be acceptable!
Our jogger group is catered to those who are also just starting out, recovering from and injury, or just want to get out and run at an easy pace. This group will be promoted as a 11-12 minute pace group. This group could cover 2.5 to 2.75 miles in 30 minutes which would get them to just past Drum Island heading towards the first Tower on the Bridge.
Our running group will be catered to those who are seasoned runners but not necessarily speedsters. This group will be promoted as a 9:30 – 10 Minute Pace group. This group should easily cover 3 plus miles in 30 minutes getting them to the first Tower of the Bridge.
As always, everyone is encouraged to run their own run. If you want to run faster, run faster. If you run at a pace that is between groups, then run your pace. Once again, our end goal here is to encourage everyone to get up and move!
If you are interested in leading one of our groups please contact us! With our new Volunteer Rewards Program, this would be a great way to earn credit towards Club Merchandise or entry into Club Hosted Races. If you don’t want to lead a group every week that is acceptable. Just let us know what week you can lead and we’ll keep our weekly event updated on our Facebook Page and Website with that week’s group leaders.
In the event that we do not have a designated group leader for the walkers or the joggers, we will adjust accordingly based on the participation of that group. This means that even if we don't have a designated posting that week of a group leader, a club member will step up to ensure walkers and joggers and not left without a social group!
